Berrios Health Exchange
After 2.5 years of research and development, the team at Qinetix launched the first and only fully-operational private Health Insurance Exchange in Puerto Rico in August 2013. The August launch focused on our Large Group Exchange Platform with local furniture and appliance leader, Empresas Berríos, inaugurating the system with over 800 island employees selecting from nine (9) different plan designs among three (3) separate health insurance carriers. The Qinetix Large Group Platform boasts a patent-pending algorithm called RiskShare® that allows participating carriers to share claims risk as part of a single insurance system, thereby virtually eliminating adverse selection among carriers.

In February 2014, Qinetix launched the Individual Market Exchange Platform, becoming the first web-based system in Puerto Rico to allow individuals to compare plan designs and prices for ACA-compliant Qualified Health Plans in the local market. Not only can the consumer compare designs and prices, the system actually allows the user to complete the entire enrollment cycle by collecting the first month’s premium and enrolling the user and any family members in the selected individual insurance plan. No other system in Puerto Rico accomplishes that feat in a single session and completely electronically.
As with our Individual Market Exchange Platform the Qinetix Private Health Insurance Exchange Platform is a turn-key system and we are proud to count First Bank among our clients.
